To my child xx

Many, many, many months ago, I wrote a poem to LMM; since then, it has sat at the back of my gratitude journal occasionally being looked at when I read something that upsets me or when LMM does something that makes my heart burst with love. I never thought I would share it, though.

Over the last couple of months with COVID 19, protests, riots, and just recently, a young teenage girl getting beaten up at a train station by a gang of 8 the fear I feel for the world LMM is growing up in weighs on me daily. I imagine I'm not the only parent that feels this way. Wishing we could wrap them in bubble wrap and shield them from the terrible things happening in the world.

So, to all the parents out there feeling how I feel, I hope this resonates with you xx.

To my child xx

I hold you tight, as often as you will let me and whenever it is needed.

Life goes so quickly.

Time moves so fast.

But, while you're in my warm embrace, time stands still - you are safe, you are loved, you are cherished, you are protected.

Then you break free, ready for another adventure, to cease another day. Your untainted innocence, and love for everything life has to offer shines like a beacon, drawing everyone into your light.

As happy and as proud as I am to watch you grow, blossom, and spread your wings, I get scared. Scared of what this life will show you, afraid of what I cannot protect you from.

But, while you're in my warm embrace, time stands still - you are safe, you are loved, you are cherished, you are protected.

I will love you forever and always.

You're mummy xxx
